Hoopfest in Spokane may be the world’s largest 3 on 3 tournament, but that’s just a warm up to the real 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament - Bonners Ferry Swish! A Bonners Ferry tradition, the 2014 Swish Basketball Tournament will take place on July 12th in downtown. In it’s seventh year, it is always a great time whether you are a participant or a spectator. And it’s not just Bonners Ferry residents who participate. Those who are young and young at heart travel from areas beyond our community to take part in this fun filled event.
“There were 43 teams last year with over 150 individual players,” said Anne Tompkins of Boundary County Parks and Recreation which now runs the tournament after taking it over last year.
The event will take place from 8:30am-8:30pm as teams battle to claim the title, and it is open to participants ages 9 and older.
The price per player is $20, and teams of three or four players are eligible to participate. If you originally register as a three player team and decide to add a sub prior to the event you can do so, but organizers advise that you must be sure to put the team name exactly as it appears on the original registration. This year there is online registration available for the many age and gender brackets. Organizers hope this will make it easier for people and there is still the option of mailing in your registration with a check or money order.
Bracket information and T-shirt packets will be available for pick up on Friday July 11th from 4-8pm or July 12th from 7-8:30am at the downtown location. Teams must have their registrations picked up during one of these times to be eligible for play. Organizers state that they will attempt to have the brackets posted online no later than Friday, July 11th at noon.

Food and beverages are available throughout the downtown area. Bring your favorite lawn chair and take up a seat at courtside to watch your favorite team play.
