Let’s face it. Going to the dentist is not something most people look forward to. But since opening his Bonners Ferry practice in August of 2007, Hank Willis, DDS has helped many through their fears by providing them with his gentle and caring approach to dentistry.
“I strive to provide excellent quality dentistry with a gentle touch,” said Dr. Willis. “Parents tell us all the time that their kids really look forward to coming for their dental visits.”
Dr. Willis realizes that many patients are apprehensive about a visit to the dentist, but said he and his team aim to provide the best care in the most compassionate, reassuring manner. He adds that his goal is to do what is best for his patients’ oral health.
He treats all ages, providing both general and cosmetic dentistry including cleanings, exams, white fillings, dental implants, custom whitening, veneers, crowns, bridges, root canals and tooth extraction. “We also perform wisdom teeth extractions,” said Dr. Willis.
Dr. Willis and his wife Hannah have lived in Bonners Ferry for 11 years and enjoy the community they call home. He attended dental school at the University of Washington and also did his residency there. “I was on a scholarship in school, which I was able to repay by working at the Kaniksu Clinic for two years,” said Dr. Willis. When he completed his two year commitment at Kaniksu, he and Hannah knew they wanted to stay. It proved to be a great decision for them and the people of Bonners Ferry.
Dr. Willis and Hannah have four children ranging in age from 4 to 11, and they agree that Bonners Ferry is a wonderful place to raise their family.
Because Dr. Willis and his staff are dedicated to the community, they give of their knowledge and time to help at various community events. “We’ve helped with the middle school job fair, the anti-smoking programs at the elementary schools, and I’ve given dentistry presentations at McCormick school and for the 4-H program,” shared Dr. Willis.
But his desire to give back extends far beyond the Bonners Ferry community to places such as Africa, Haiti and Mexico where he has participated in dental mission trips. “This February I ran a dental clinic in a rural village in Haiti and extracted 700 teeth in five days!” exclaimed Dr. Willis.
Not only is Dr. Willis grateful to the community that has supported him over the last several years, but he also praises the people with whom he works. “I really have to give credit to my awesome team,” said Dr. Willis. Carey, who handles all the scheduling, billing and insurance, also greets patients as they arrive. “She has been doing her job for over 14 years and does it very well,” said Dr. Willis.
Krystal, Cindy and Stacey are Dr. Willis’s extraordinary assistants who back one another up and are always willing to help wherever needed.
“I couldn't ask for two better hygienists than Paulette and Annie,” said Dr. Willis. “They're both so skilled and knowledgeable, and I often hear people say at the end of their cleaning that their teeth have never felt so clean and that they did not experience any discomfort.”
Dr. Willis, who is accepting new patients, has been at his current location at 6811 S Main St in Bonners Ferry since August 2007. Due to growth, he plans to build a new office a year from now next to the Pend Oreille Veterinary Office and across the street from ET Wireless. “It will allow us to better serve our patients' needs” said Dr. Willis.
