Diamond Cup Race Denied Water Permit

According to multiple local news outlets,the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department has informed organizers for the Coeur d'Alene Diamond Cup Race that they will not receive a water event permit for the race that was planned over Labor Day weekend on Lake Coeur d'Alene. Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint Living Local Magazines are featuring the history of the event and changes to this year's race in our July issues.

Unfortunately, our July issue was already printed before news of the water permit denial broke. It is unknown at this time whether event organizers will appeal or if the race will ultimately be cancelled.
