Throughout his high school sports career, Jordan Ross has learned that mental toughness and determination will bring success.

“In that, I also learned to build a strong work ethic and be a good teammate,” he said.

His work ethic has paid off already. Jordan, a senior at Lake City High School, has a GPA above 3.0. He is the shortstop and pitcher for the school’s baseball team.

Next year, he’ll continue to play baseball at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. He said he’d like to make a career of coaching baseball. He said it was a challenge waiting to find out for which school he would play.

“The recruiting process is a long, difficult process that takes patience,” he said.

In spite of the game he loves, he recognizes that there are no guarantees in baseball.

“I think what intrigues me about baseball is that any team can beat any team on any given day,” Jordan said.

In the words of the famous coach, Tommy Lasorda, “There are three types of baseball players: Those who make it happen, those who watch it happen and those who wonder what happens.” I’m pretty sure if the past is any indication, Jordan is one who will continue to make it happen.
