BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT COMFORT CITY

We all know what it’s like to wake up from a great night’s sleep. You feel invigorated, energized and ready to take on the day. We also all know what happens when we spend the night tossing and turning, stressing about work and family. You wake up tired, sore and cranky. While there are a variety of ways to eliminate stress in our lives, finding the proper mattress is often one of the best solutions to sleeping better, which leads to feeling better.

“The number one thing when choosing a new mattress is finding the one that puts you in the deepest sleep for the longest amount of time,” said Dan Peach, owner of Comfort City Super Sleep Centers in Coeur d’Alene. With more than 30 years in the mattress business, Dan knows a thing or two about sleep. It was a little more than four years ago that Dan decided to branch out from the corporate world to start his own store with the focus being what’s best for the customer instead of what’s best for the corporation. “Before I felt my hands were tied because I always needed approval on things. Now with my own store I can take care of my customers immediately,” said Dan.

Comfort City Super Sleep Centers is a family operation with wife Kimberly and daughter Autumn helping run the business. Each is up-to-date on all the latest technologies and what style of mattress best fits each person. Dan, Kim or Autumn will ask you what you like and dislike about your current mattress, find a price point you are comfortable with and walk you through a variety of different mattresses. “There is no number one bed in the world, otherwise everyone would be happy,” said Kim. “We strive to find the perfect mattress for you, not just what the ads on TV tell you.”

A recent expansion to Comfort City Super Sleep Centers is the Bedz for Kidz section. “Unfortunately, many parents don’t think kids need a quality mattress, but it’s actually very important to have proper support as they grow,” said Kim. The Bedz for Kidz section carries a large selection of kids’ beds, dressers, bunk beds, specialty beds like car beds, castles, loft styles and daybeds, and quality mattresses in a variety of styles, with coils and without.

Comfort City carries traditional spring mattresses as well as the newest wave of high-end memory foam materials. Many of these beds come with adjustable bases, something more and more customers are asking about. “A lot more people are reading up on the benefits of an adjustable base,” said Dan. “These can help with issues like sleep apnea, snoring, circulation, acid reflux and make getting in and out of bed easier as well.”

A good rule of thumb is to replace your mattress every eight to ten years. Our bodies go through many changes as we age, and the bed we chose 10 years ago might not be the best bed for us now. It’s with that in mind that Comfort City Super Sleep Centers takes extra time to find each customer the right bed for their best nights’ rest. “I want all of our customers to be extremely well taken care of. We really do give that extra effort,” said Kim. “It’s fulfilling to know I’m helping people sleep better and knowing I can direct them to the mattress that is just right for them,” said Dan.
