Coeur d'Alene Theme Article Summer Camps and Outdoor Adventures

If you are looking to find activities for your son or daughter this summer take a peek at the camps offered in our area!

Camp Stidwell

Clark Fork, ID 83811; 208.255.6642

Located on the south end of Mirror Lake, Camp Stidwell, managed by the Kiwanis Club, has 160 acres of forest, including 2,000 feet of lakefront access. Camp Stidwell is a youth-based campground and gives young adults first come access to reservations until March 1 before opening reservations to groups of all ages. Camp Stidwell plays host to several Girl Scout and Boy Scout camps but is also available for weddings, meetings or just a weekend getaway. The campgrounds have two pavilion areas: Camp Ouimet and Camp Angell and access to numerous trails. The Kiwanis Club recently harvested some of their timber to help purchase new docks on the lake. Their fees are also extremely reasonable! This summer, come enjoy this “jewel by the lake”!

Sandpoint Music Conservatory

This summer, why not give your child the gift of music, dance or theater? The Sandpoint Conservatory has summer programs for the artistically inclined. Their theater program (July 5 to 15) will show campers the ins and outs of theater techniques and scene work. Choir Camp (July 18 to 22) will teach young singers vocal techniques and songs for a performance. Last, the conservatory’s orchestra camp (July 25 to 29) combines campers with music students from Mexico for an end of week performance. Auditions are required for this camp. Parents can also choose to enroll in private lessons on a variety of classical instruments.

Lutherhaven Ministries

Lutherhaven Ministries in Coeur d’Alene offers a variety of week-long overnight camps for children and adults of all ages. They have camps for children entering grades 1 through 12, a special needs camp and family camps. The camps all focus on outdoor activities, such as hiking, swimming, horseback riding but also includes crafts, music and Bible study. The Shoshone Creek Ranch gives young campers a dude ranch experience on the western edge of the Bitterroot Mountains. For campers with special needs, the Champ Camp gives campers assistance by trained staff in participating in outdoor activities. Family Camp at Lutherhaven gives families a time to bond and enjoy each other, and Parker’s Place offers comfort and solace to families who have lost a child. There’s something positive and wonderful for everyone at Lutherhaven!

Kamp Ka-Mee-Lin

Kiwanis Park, Post Falls

Kamp Ka-Mee-Lin is a day camp for children ages 4½ to 13 years of age. Every week, starting from mid-June to the end of August, has a different theme. The summer kicks off with the Wild West where campers will participate in activities surrounding cowboys, Native Americans, pioneers and outlaws. Nintendo Legends brings Nintendo games to life in outdoor activities. Castle Crashers enter the fantasy world of kings, queens and knights. Radical Riders involves anything on two wheels: bikes, roller skates, scooters and big wheels. Ka-Mee-Lin Detectives, Campers of Deep Space will learn about the solar system with a little bit of science fiction thrown in. Other weekly themes include: Tsunami of Fun, Minecraft Camp, Treasure Island, Heroes of Ancient Greece and Ninja Warrior Camp. Which camp sounds more wild and imaginative?
